It's finally summer in Chicago!  It was a long time coming but it's here.  River levels are getting back to normal, fish are looking up, and there's a ton of good fishing to be had in the area now.  We'll be at Galway Bay on Monday the 8th tying a few flies, talking fishing and of course getting in a few drinks!

Come on out and hang with a bunch of fishy local folks.  Whether you tie or not all are welcome to join us.

It's been a wild spring in Chicago and the rivers may be blown for a while but we're keeping hope that we'll all be back on the water soon.  We'll be hanging out Monday May 13 as always at Galway Bay to get some flies tied, have a few drinks, and have a good time with other fly fishers.  Everyone is welcome (21+) so bring your friends and come hang out!

 Well its official! The 2019 Bronzeback Cup Fly Tournament will be held on July 20th in the Northern Illinois and Chicagoland area. Tournament will be open to teams of two or three with boats/vessels.

Spring is finally here!  Despite the up and down temps the fishing is starting to heat up.  It's time to get out on the water!  Pre- spawn smallies have been a hot ticket locally the last few weeks and the Driftless is on fire lately.  Get excited for the start of the season and come have a few drinks with fun people, tie up a couple flies, and have a good time.  We'll be at Galway Bay- our favorite Lakeview dive- around 6:30 till whenever.  As always everyone (21+) is welcome- whether you're our local Pro Staff or just fly curious we can't wait to hang out.

Well winter is set in and it's set in hard.  There won't be much fly fishing to be done locally for a while but at least we've still got tying and beer.  Come out of the cold and hang out with us at Galway Bay on Monday February 11.  We'll be there no matter what the weather!  Join us for some fishy conversation some good beers (and/ or cheap whiskey) and maybe get a few flies tied up for the spring that will be here sooner than you think!

Happy New Year friends!  And welcome to another year of Chi Tie.  We'll be back at Galway Bay on Monday the 14th in our usual spot at the back bar.  Whether you're fishing early season trout, winter steelhead, or just prepping boxes for the spring it's a great time to get a few flies tied, have a few drinks and hang out with good people.  Everyone (21+) is always welcome and we hope to see you there.

It's finally summer!  Hope everyone has had some great spring fishing and is ready for poppers and wet wading!  Things are all warmed up and ready to fish hard.

May 14

May is here and the weather has finally turned around!  It's time to fish!  Whether you're out chasing big spring smallies, the lake shore coho run, or heading up to the driftless for some early camping and trout you're going to need some flies.  Come join us at our next meet up and tie a few! We'll be at Galway hanging out as always having a few beers and trying to get a few flies tied in between.  Bring whatever you need to tie or just come hang out and talk fishing with us!  Everyone (21+) is always welcome!  See you there!!

It's time to fish! Spring is officially here and the fishing is heating up.  Whether it's slob smallmouth, early carp, pike, or Lake Michigan trib salmon it's time to start getting out!  We've seen reports all over of fish being caught.  

Come join us on April 9 for some drinks and maybe get a couple of flies tied.  But mostly to hang with other cool fly fishers and get excited for this year!  As always we'll be at Galway Bay.  It's happy hour till 7:00 and dollar PBRs after that.  Everyone is always welcome (21+) whether pro tier or never tied.

Gear Drive!

We're still collecting your gently used gear or new flies for Project Healing Waters.  Every year we try to give back to the community.  PHW helps rehabilitate veterans and active military personnel through fly fishing.  Bring gear and we'll take care of getting it into the hands of a deserving organization.

 

 

 

March 12

It's finally (sort of) spring!!  The temps are starting to climb and it's time to get serious about filling some fly boxes! Come hang out with us Monday March 12th to tie a few flies, have a few drinks, and have some good fishy conversation with great people.  It's time to get excited about the upcoming season and start making fishing plans!  As always everyone (21+) is welcome regardless of tying or drinking level!  Just join us! 

Also for the next two months we will be doing our annual Project Healing Waters collection.  Support our vets by donating your old gear or flies- just bring them to Chi-Tie and we'll take care of getting it into the hands of our local chapter!

February 12

Another month another Chi- Tie!  It's February and that means winter is almost over and spring is around the corner.  With these warmer days it's easier to see the light at the end of the tunnel!  Time to start thinking about the early season and tying some flies to fill those boxes back up.  We'll be back at Galway on Monday the 12th this month.  Come join us for some good drinks, good company, and good tying.  Of course this will be an open tie so bring whatever you need to tie whatever you want!

Happy New Years from Chi- Tie!!  Hope everyone had a great holiday and has a fun safe New Years.   We'll be kicking off 2018 and another year of Chi Tie hangouts on Monday the 8th.  As always we'll be at Galway Bay around 6:30.  Everyone is welcome (21+) to join us!  Start off the new year with some fishy people and some good drinks!  Hope to see you there!
