Basic Skills for fly Tying Class

Our friends over at Coren's Rod and Reel just let us know about another upcoming opportunity to learn some fly tying basics.  If you're new to tying or wanting to get into it, this is a great way to get started.  Check it out and give them a call if you're interested.

Class size limited to six.
Stuart Van Dorn will teach this class with a technique rather than pattern emphasis. For example parts of the fly (tail, body, hackle) will be worked on with different materials. There will be plenty of individual attention, if you want to learn what tying flies is all about but are new this is a great opportunity.

February Wrap Up

This month's Chi- Tie meetup was a blast.  We had one of the best turnouts we've had yet and just about took over the back room of the bar.  Flies were tied, some drinks downed, and of course all sorts of fishy conversation.  It was a good time with a big variety of flies being tied as always.
Our next meet up will be on March 9 and we hope you can make it!  It's a good break from this winter that's starting to wear on us all.  Think warm thoughts and prepare for the spring!

January Wrap Up

It's a wrap! Our first meet of 2015!  It was great to see some friends again after making it through the holidays.  As always we had some great fishy conversation, a few brews, and even managed to tie a handful of flies.  Seems warmer weather and smallmouth are already on our minds.
Our next meet up will be February 9.  Hopefully we'll see you!  Until then- stay warm and try to keep busy with the Expos, shows, and local fly shop events.

Happy New Years friends! Welcome to 2015 and another year of Chi-Tie!
We'll be kicking off another year of Chi- Tie on Monday the 12th as always at Galway Bay at 6:30pm. Come on out and join us for some fly tying and a few drinks. Just bring a vise and materials to tie what you'd like. Of course we welcome anyone and everyone to hang out with us. Tyer or not!

December Wrap- Up

I'm a little late in getting this posted but we had a good time as always at this month's Chi- Tie.  We once again had a huge variety of flies being tied from trout hoppers to giant musky tandems.  We had a few people just hang out for a couple drinks and had fun making some new friends.  As always we welcome anyone. 

A couple days later a few of us met out in Arlington Heights for the screening of the Hank Patterson film.  So a week full of fly fishing and good times!

We hope everybody has a Happy Holidays and a great New Years.  We'll see you next in January on the 12th!
